(2022)
A self-initiated project that started from illustrations I created for my love of Mexican pan dulce and that evolved into this project. I wanted to create a Lotería game that I haven’t seen before and one that expresses an important part of my Mexican culture. I have many fond memories of playing this game with my family while eating pan dulce.
I chose pastel colors for the design because they remind me of the colors in pan dulce. Additionally, they are soft and subtle, allowing my illustrations to stand out while maintaining a colorful personality that brings interest to the design. To give the table cards more depth and intrigue, I experimented with various paper textures, giving the design a grungy and imperfect quality that I find appealing. To make my pan dulce illustrations look more realistic and appetizing, I used a texture resembling powdered sugar.
